Q: how to help child with stuff nose (nasal congestion)

When it happened, my kid sometimes said he could not breath.  This will sometimes impacted his study although he might forget about it when playing :)

1. Elevate his head with a pillow. This will help the child breathe easier.
2. Use a saline solution. A few drops in each nostrils will help to drain the mucous. You should stand by with a tissue.
3. Use Vicks. You can rub some on the sole of your child and put on socks or on his chest. Many parents swear by this method although it has not been scientifically proven to be effective.
4. Steam. Run hot water in a basin and have your child sit in a closed bathroom with the steam for 10-15 mins. This will help to loosen up congestion.
5. Drink plenty of fluids to thin out the mucous.
6. Use a humidifier. Dry air worsens the congestion.
7. Finally see a doctor if your child is running a fever or cannot sleep well.
