If your kid doesn’t want to go to school, you need to get to the root of why that is. If the change is something very sudden, there’s a good chance that something is going on that makes your child feel uncomfortable going to school. Sit your child down and ask them if there is something going on at school. They might be reluctant to tell you. At that point, you should reach out to the teacher and/or the principal. Have your child’s grades suffered as well? These are all things that could point to some other problem in your child’s life. There are many things it could be. Your child could be the victim of bullying. They could also be of dating age and with the way social media is, someone could have posted something unpleasant about them. Or your child might not understand the material in class and feel unworthy, leading to a bit of a snowball effect. Whatever the case, you’ve got to dig to the bottom to find out why your child doesn’t want to go to school. If your child has never liked school since they were young and has always hated going, you can use a rewards system to entice them to get more involved in school. Have them work up to a goal, such as earning a new bicycle or something else that will motivate them to make more of an effort. |
