Assuming your child wants to excel at basketball, helping your child become good at it will require practice. Here are some tips.

Exercise
It’s not just about being able to sink the ball in the basket. Your child should exercise and train for stamina on the court. Running, jumping, and interval training are all good ways to make that happen.

Practice drills
In addition to strengthening the body, your child will need to strengthen their basketball skills. So think of practice shooting, dribbling exercises, and passing to teammates as good ways to work on that.

Working with a team
In basketball, it’s all about how the team functions together. Your child can be an excellent basketball player but without being able to work fluidly with the rest of the teammates, it will only take your child so far. Encourage your child to practice good sportsmanship with the teammates and learn how to work with everyone toward the goal of winning.

Join a camp
As with anything, joining a basketball camp is another way to build on the skills. You can find one during the summer or even after school. After plenty of practice, your child should do well on the court.
